Kings of Leon | Serpents & Snakes Records
Digital Infrastructure, Web Platform Development, Multi-Platform Operations
Project Background
Serpents and Snakes Records was the Followill family's independent label — founded by the Kings of Leon to sign the Nashville bands they believed in, distributed through Sony RED, and run out of a Followill-owned office with a full-time GM and a BMG publishing relationship. Not a vanity imprint. A working label with artists, budgets, release schedules, and international press.
We served as the label's digital infrastructure partner from founding through wind-down — roughly 2009 to 2016. Our role covered everything online: web builds, platform operations, and the ongoing systems that kept a five-artist roster connected to its audience and the industry across multiple album cycles, a nationally covered SXSW showcase, and an international documentary.
Highlights
• Built and maintained the label's primary web presence (sandsrecords.com) across the full label lifecycle
• Managed all online platform operations — website, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook — requiring ongoing infrastructure, maintenance, and coordination
• Provided digital infrastructure support through multiple album cycles for five artists: The Features, The Weeks, Turbo Fruits, Snowden, and Clear Plastic Masks
• Supported digital presence during the label's SXSW 2013 showcase featuring the full roster
• Maintained label web systems during the production and release of New Music City, an AllSaints documentary spotlighting the label and Nashville's indie scene (premiered May 2013)
• Kept all web and platform infrastructure operational and current from label founding through wind-down
